While salaries vary across type/sector of employment (e.g., private/public), the mean starting salaries provide some indication of what graduates can expect to earn. The mean starting salary for a 2025 CSU D.V.M. graduate who did not pursue further advanced education was $124,536 for private practice and $75,000 for public sector roles. This is compared to a national salary of $134,244 and $105,503 respectively. Almost half (45%) of the 2025 graduates expect to earn additional compensation by pursuing options such as a signing bonus, emergency case work, moving allowance, etc.
Employment
