Sasha Foster

Small Animal Rehabilitation Coordinator Veterinary Teaching Hospital

About Sasha

Sasha obtained a Master of Science in physical therapy from Arcadia University in Glenside, PA, and is a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist (CCRT) through the Canine Rehab Institute in Wellington, FL. In collaboration with CSU faculty and staff, she helped build the human model of rehabilitation inside the Veterinary Teaching Hospital so dogs in all areas of the hospital - from critical care to sports medicine - have the opportunity to receive rehabilitation. As a licensed human physical therapist, she brings years of manual therapy skills to the orthopedic medicine and mobility team, helping them evaluate animal muscles and ligaments in novel ways to improve diagnostics. Her skill set is also used to develop individual treatment plans, in-house clinical trials protocols, and multi-center research protocols. Outside of CSU, Sasha is a faculty member at the Canine Rehab Institute and an avid writer of rehabilitation and fitness books, including the award-winning books, The Healthy Way to Stretch Your Dog: A Physical Therapy Approach and Canine Cross Training: Building Balance, Strength and Endurance in Your Dog. She is a contributing author to the textbooks, Canine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and Canine Lameness. Her professional goal as a canine rehabilitation therapist is to teach students the importance of canine rehabilitation by providing evidence-based, gentle-handling evaluations, and treatments to help patients return to their highest level of pain-free functional mobility. Although her background is in human and canine rehabilitation, she applies her vast knowledge to helping other animal patients as well.
