Veterinary Technician Veterinary Teaching Hospital

About Misty

Misty Moranville, A.A.S, RVT, VTS (Anesthesia/Analgesia) I grew up in a small beach town just north of St. Augustine, Florida with my parents and younger sister. Throughout my childhood I had various pets including dogs, hamsters, gerbils, and kittens that I would sneak in the house for weeks before my parents had any idea they were there. I was always finding animals that needed my care. I was destined for a career in veterinary medicine. Through school I worked as a kennel assistant at a local veterinary office and I was just in awe of the work the technicians did and knew I wanted to be like them one day. After high school I attended Colorado State University for one year but was unable to return due financial reasons. I briefly moved home to Florida, and then made the decision to move back to Denver to attend the Bel-Rea Institute for Animal Technology. I had already fallen in love with Colorado during my one year at CSU and knew this would be my home. I graduated and passed my VTNE in 2006 and started working for a corporate small animal practice. Anesthesia really shined through as my passion during school and became a brighter beacon as I began my career. I was the lead tech for the surgeries and anesthesia's at the clinic. I truly loved helping provide smooth pain free induction and recoveries. In January of 2008 a job opportunity opened at the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital in the anesthesia section. This opportunity has allowed me to expand my knowledge and passion for anesthesia. I have been able to provide the most state of the art, and up-to-date anesthetic plans tailored specifically for each individual patient's medical concerns. In my role I am also able to help educate the future generations of veterinarians and veterinary technicians. I love the dynamic in teaching to the differing levels between 3rd and 4th year veterinary students and technician students. I strive to inspire my students to be the best advocates for their patients, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners. Outside of work I love to spend time with my husband, two daughters, and two Labradors, Annie and Zeffie. We enjoy going on walks and trips to the park. The girls love to help me in the kitchen with anything I am making.
