About Leo

Leo graduated from Hampshire College in 2018 with a B.A. focus in Biomedical Sciences and minor focus in Medical Anthropology. They are co-mentored by Dr. Mark Zabel and Dr. Claire de La Serre as a PhD candidate in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology. Leo is studying diet-driven disruption of bidirectional gut-brain signaling along the vagus nerve and is investigating how disruption of vagal signaling may be implicated in prion disease.
