About Serena
Serena is an avian, exotic, zoological medicine and surgery specialty intern here at CSU! She has bounced around the country but was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. Attending University of Missouri-Columbia (undergraduate degree) increased her interest in wildlife medicine and reproduction. She went on to obtain her D.V.M. from Tuskegee University in (Tuskegee, AL). She completed a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at the University of Georgia (Athens, GA). Now her and her shiba inu "Mochi" have made it to the west for the best mountain views!
Ultimately, her career goals are to be a board-certified specialist in zoological medicine and/or reproduction who works within endangered species reproduction and television production. Educating the public about the hardships faced by those in the veterinary medical field, the amazing species we share the planet with, and maximizing diversity in the veterinary field have become her main passions. Her goals also include creating a television show that will highlight key areas of veterinary medicine beyond general practice encompassing veterinarians that work in the food industry, government, wildlife, etc.
