About Jennifer

Dr. Rawlinson graduated from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. She completed her residency program in dentistry and oral surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in 2005 and became an AVDC diplomate in 2006 and AVDC equine diplomate in 2014. From 2005-2011, she created and ran the Dentistry and Oral Surgery service at Cornell University. In 2013, she greatly expanded the Dentistry and Oral Surgery service at Colorado State University, where she now works as a tenured associate professor. She was the dentistry and oral surgery service head at Cornell from 2005-2011 and Colorado State from 2013-2020. In 2020, she became the president of the American Veterinary Dental College (AVDC). Dr. Rawlinson has focused her energies on expanding dental and oral surgical care to all species, which include small animals, equids, camelids, pigs, livestock, exotic pets, and wildlife, throughout her career. She was the driving force behind the creation of the equine dental specialty within the AVDC. She is passionate about mentoring and educating D.V.M. students and residents as evidenced by both the curriculum and residency programs she created at Cornell and CSU. Her research interests include oral microbiomes, inflammatory cytokines, periodontal disease, regional maxillofacial anesthesia, oral surgery, and equine and porcine dentistry.
