Samantha Shockney
Veterinary Assistant II - Small Animal Internal Medicine Veterinary Teaching HospitalAbout Samantha
Sam grew up in rural Indiana, surrounded by cornfields and a deep love for animals. From a young age, she was the kind of child who brought home injured birds and stray dogs and cats, always eager to care for them. Although she initially considered veterinary school, her passion for books and reading led her to pursue a degree in English education after high school.
After earning her degree, Sam worked as a substitute teacher and later as a manager at a climbing gym. Over time, she discovered a stronger passion for teaching adults rather than children. She and her partner eventually moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, drawn by their shared love of climbing and the outdoors. It was there that Sam rediscovered her love for animal care and decided to pursue a degree in veterinary technology.
She graduated from Front Range Community College in the spring of 2025 and is passionate about providing patients with the highest quality care and advocating for their well-being.
