About Sabrina

Sabrina Nogula is a Master of Public Health (MPH) student at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, concentrating in Environmental and Occupational Health. Originally from New York, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Marine Studies from Southern Connecticut State University, where she also played varsity soccer.

Sabrina’s passion for environmental health began through her internship at the Werth Center for Coastal and Marine Studies, where she collected biodiversity and water quality data from Long Island Sound. This hands-on experience introduced her to the role of environmental monitoring in protecting public and ecological health and sparked a strong interest in addressing the intersections of environmental justice, climate resilience, and health equity.

Currently, she is spending her summer working in two public health roles. At Jefferson County Public Health, she supports the Vector-borne Disease Program, contributing to mosquito surveillance efforts to prevent the spread of West Nile Virus and other arboviruses. In her concurrent practicum with the Town of Superior’s Disaster Preparedness and Recovery team, she is helping advance wildfire resilience initiatives and public outreach strategies. These combined roles allow her to apply her academic knowledge to real-world environmental health challenges while strengthening her skills in community engagement, environmental monitoring, and emergency preparedness.

Sabrina is especially passionate about equitable disaster response, clean water access, and building community resilience in the face of climate change. In the future, she hopes to continue working at the intersection of science, policy, and public health to support sustainable, community-centered solutions.

In her free time, she enjoys hiking with her dog, snowboarding, and playing soccer.
