About Lucas

I am a sophomore studying biology at Colorado State University. This past summer, I worked with  Dr. Elizabeth Ryan at the CSU Spur campus in Denver. The first project I was involved with was creating a new exhibit to bring more awareness to rice bran and its benefits. This included setting up a tent at farmer's markets, providing more information to the public and doing research about rice bran.

I also did sample work that involved testing for a certain virus in potatoes. I learned a great amount about the different processes that happen and what lab work looks like. Additionally, I helped with the VR lab. The VR lab allowed visitors to take an online course about anatomy and my job was helping people navigate and learn how to get through the course. Overall, my time at Spur was a excellent learning experience and I am eager to learn more about the opportunities at CSU involving lab work.
