Hailey Tyra

Following completion of her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University, Hailey joined the equine field service team as an intern. Hailey began riding horses at age 6 and has been involved with them ever since. She competed as a member of the UC Davis three-day event team during her undergraduate years and continues to ride when time and her horse’s soundness allow. She values the connection horses offer and enjoys working with their individual personalities, which continues to shape her personal and professional life.

Her interest in veterinary medicine began with her first horse, Friday, whose health challenges introduced her to the problem-solving side of equine care. A pivotal experience assisting with his treatment during a colic episode confirmed her desire to pursue equine practice. After completing her internship, she plans to return to New Mexico to work in equine ambulatory general practice and provide care in an area with limited access to equine veterinarians.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her off-track Thoroughbred mare Bailey, her cat Judy, and her two goats, Meat and Cheese.
