About Tyler

Ty is from Colorado, and has research interests that include viral ecology and evolution with a specific focus on quasispecies dynamics and viral reassortment. Previous and on-going research interests include host immunity (particularly during viral infection), assay development for both diagnostic and research applications, and microbiome/metagenomic analyses using next generation sequencing and bioinformatics. And last (but certainly not least), finding ways to make labs more environmentally sustainable!! Outside of lab-related pursuits, he enjoys teaching and learning, being in nature, yoga, spending time with animals and propagating as many plants as possible.
