About Grace

Dr. Grace Borlee has conducted research in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology since 2011. Prior to coming to Colorado State University, Dr. Borlee was a research scientist at the University of Washington and the toxicology group leader at a contract research organization. She is interested in characterizing the microbiome associated with the biting midge, Culicoides sonorensis, a vector of numerous economically important viruses.

In addition to laboratory research, she also has several discipline-based biology education research projects, as part of PRIME, including investigating intergenerational learning in the CURE lab with older adult community members from Fort Collins, imposter phenomenon and intrinsic motivation in various student population within the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, and the inclusion of scientists from all backgrounds in the classroom. Her goal is to prepare students for a fulfilling scientific career.
