I’m from Mount Olive, NJ, and I decided to attend CSU for its commitment to diversity in the STEM field. I am currently pursuing a degree in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease, and in the future, I hope to work on clinical treatments for infectious diseases. In my free time, I like to read mystery novels and drag my friends along to escape rooms!

Emma Hinchcliffe, Kim Lab

I am from York, Pennsylvania. I am a sophomore majoring in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease, and a minor in chemistry. I hope to work in research in the future, either with a D.V.M.-Ph.D. or a Ph.D. In my free time, I like to do martial arts, crochet, sing, hike, and go thrifting with friends!

I’m from Wellington, Colorado and am majoring in biomedical sciences with a concentration in anatomy and physiology. I really enjoy learning about cancer and cell biology, genetics, and the cardiovascular system; but anything relating to the human body is awesome to me! I hope to become a cardiologist in the future, and do research projects involving cancer along the way. Outside of school, I enjoy writing, drawing, hiking, listening to music, reading, and volunteering with kids at my church!

Trey Brauchler, Santangelo Lab

I'm from Parker, Colorado and I am majoring in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease. I have Becker muscular dystrophy and I hope to pursue a career in genetic research in to work on treatments for genetic diseases like mine. I hope to go to graduate school and maybe even obtain a Ph.D. My hobbies are drawing, writing, and playing video games of all kinds.

Emerald Cordova, Kading Lab

I am from Colorado Springs, Colorado. My major is in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease, and a minor in creative writing. In the future, I plan on getting my Ph.D. to research autoimmune and chronic illness treatments. Outside of research, I enjoy writing, reading, and partaking in any kind of adventure outdoors.

Yvette Cruz, Dobos Lab

I am studying biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease. I hope to attend grad school so I can be a part of research on infectious disease in any way. In my free time, I love going out and exploring new places and hanging out with my friends. I love skincare, fashion, and a good iced coffee. I am super excited to be a part of MARC!

Raul Hernandez, Tsunoda Lab

I am from Brush, Colorado and I am majoring in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease. I plan on graduating in the spring of 2026 and my future goals are to continue doing research with either an M.D.-Ph.D. or Ph.D. In my free time, I enjoy going on hikes, snowboarding, reading, watching anime, and working out.

I am from Carlsbad, California. I am studying for my undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease, and a minor in ethnic studies. I hope to pursue a Ph.D. and help build more accessible healthcare for marginalized communities. In my free time, I love reading, crafting (whether it be scrapbooking or crocheting), and racing my bike.

I’m from Salisbury, Maryland. I’m currently pursuing a degree in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease. I plan to apply to D.V.M.-Ph.D. programs, and have an interest in zoonotic disease transmission, translational research, and prion diseases! In my free time, I love snowboarding, playing music, and hiking with my dog Isola!

Elizabeth Williams, Jackson Lab

I am from Kansas City, Missouri and I am a first-generation college student! I am a third year majoring in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease and a minor in science communication. In the future, I hope to pursue a Ph.D. in microbiology. I have a passion for educating others and making STEM accessible for everyone through my work with a local nonprofit, The Quarter Project! In my free time I enjoy reading and hanging out with my cat, Billy.

I am a first-generation student from Denver, Colorado majoring in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious diseases. I want to attend grad school and continue doing research specifically in human longevity, investigating the effects of aging and ways to minimize negative impacts, reverse it, or extend human life. What I like best about research is that it engages my curiosity. In my free time I like to play puzzle and skill-based video games, journal, and write music.

I am from Seattle, Washington. I am majoring in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease, as well as minoring in bioinformatics and chemistry. I hope to get my Ph.D. and work as a professor while conducting research. In my free time I like to crochet, read sci-fi books, and bake snacks for my friends.

I'm from Colorado Springs, Colorado. I am majoring in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease. I love this field so far and I am inspired by how much there is to learn. I am aspiring to attain my Ph.D. abroad and work as a research scientist in the infectious disease realm. Outside of school, I enjoy hanging out with my cat, Stardew Valley, and painting.

I’m from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and I’m pursuing a degree in biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease, and a minor in chemistry. I plan on applying to D.V.M. programs to eventually become an anatomical veterinary pathologist. Outside of science, I love to play my flute in bands and orchestras, sailing leisurely and competitively with my friends, film photography, along with many other hobbies!
