Janee Maka

Janee moved to Fort Collins from her rural Illinois hometown in 2013 and fell in love with the vibrant community and stunning natural beauty. While working early in college, she realized the significant impact a positive work environment can have on our lives, given how much time we spend there. This realization inspired her to pursue a career in HR, with a commitment to creating healthy and happy workplaces for others. Janee earned her master's degree from Colorado State University in organizational learning, performance, and change in 2022. With 5 years of experience in higher education HR, she has had the privilege of working in the office of equal opportunity and the vice president for research office at CSU. These roles have honed her skills in creating inclusive environments and supporting academic and administrative excellence. Outside of work, Janee enjoys practicing yoga, hiking in the beautiful Colorado outdoors, and indulging in video games. She also has a passion for painting, particularly landscapes and abstract art. Her 3-year-old mini goldendoodle, Jude, is her constant companion and best friend. Jude is incredibly intelligent, equally stubborn, and irresistibly cute. They love exploring trails together, whether it's hiking, running, or biking. More than anything else, Jude enjoys fetching his frisbee and then never giving it back.
