About Jordyn

Jordyn graduated with a degree in biology from St. Edward’s University in 2020 where she studied the impact of environmental conditions on microbial and plant populations in central Texas. In 2021, she began her career in microbiology as a research associate at the University of Texas Medical Branch at the World Reference Center for Emerging Viruses and Arboviruses. Her research with Dr. Scott Weaver and Dr. Kenneth Plante included animal model development, in vivo vaccine efficacy studies against SARS-CoV-2, and characterization of viral pathogenesis and immune mechanisms of various arboviruses.

At CSU, Jordyn is interested in studying the ecological factors driving pathogen emergence and spillover from animal reservoirs into human hosts. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her cats, hiking, and baking.
