About Shane

Dr. Hentges is a Professor and Chair of the Integrative Physiology and Neuroscience Department at Washington State University. Her research focuses on central mechanisms that regulate energy balance and bodyweight and also how opioids work to reinforce food intake and other processes such as addiction and analgesia. Dr. Hentges was awarded the prestigious Monfort Professorship at CSU (2014) and has been a recipient of a Pfizer Animal Health Award for Research Excellence.
