About Jason
Mr. Cummings is a Research Associate IV and the Laboratory Manager for Dr. Slayden. He joined the Slayden lab in 2009 with a background in M. tuberculosis vaccine and drug testing in animals. In addition to M. tuberculosis, Mr. Cummings works with Tier 1 select agents (B. pseudomallei, B. mallei, F. tularensis, Y. pestis, and B. anthracis) to determine novel drug efficacy in vitro and in vivo and use next generation sequencing as a tool to better understand host/pathogen interactions in the context of treatment. Mr. Cummings is also tasked with managing ongoing NIH IDIQ and private company contracts. His lab manager responsibilities include maintaining regulatory compliance, personnel training, communication with outside vendors, and budgeting/ordering.
