Dr. Dean’s research program focuses on mucosal immunology and the immunopathology of the feline and human immunodeficiency viruses (FIV, HIV) and feline coronavirus. Major projects include:  1. Developing an orally delivered mucosal vaccine against HIV-1 using the commensal organism, Lactobacillus acidophilus, as a vaccine platform, 2. Investigation of the interaction between intestinal microbiome, host mucosal immune responses and vaccines, and 3. Determining the mucosal immune correlates of protection against feline enteric coronavirus infection.

About Gregg

Dr. Dean is Professor and Head of the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology at CSU. Dr. Dean’s research program focuses on mucosal immunology and the immunopathology of the feline and human immunodeficiency viruses (FIV, HIV) and feline coronavirus. Major projects include: 1. Developing an orally delivered mucosal vaccine against HIV-1 using the commensal organism, Lactobacillus acidophilus, as a vaccine platform, 2. Investigation of the interaction between intestinal microbiome, host mucosal immune responses and vaccines, and 3.
