Certificate Program Graduate Certificate in Vector-Borne Diseases
Emerging vector-borne diseases present a continual threat to human and animal health. Over the past couple decades, the United States has experienced the invasion and establishment of West Nile virus, introductions and range expansions of exotic mosquito and tick species, the emergence of Heartland virus, and increasing threats of dengue, chikungunya, and Zika viruses.
The vector-borne diseases certificate provides a solid foundation in emerging vector-borne diseases, equipping students with the knowledge and skills for careers in fields such as public health, vector control, and epidemiology. Interdisciplinary courses allow for a tailored focus on applied vector control operations or virology and infectious diseases.
The renowned Center for Vector-borne Infectious Diseases (CVID) at Colorado State University, a leading institution in the CDC’s Rockies and High Plains Training and Evaluation Program in Vector-borne Diseases (RaHP VEC), offers a variety of research and training opportunities.
