About Katie

Dr. Katharine (Katie) Simpson is an assistant professor in the livestock medicine and surgery service at Colorado State University. Her research interests include bovine lameness and digital disease, regional intravenous perfusion in cattle, urolithiasis in livestock species, and pregnancy toxemia in small ruminants. Dr. Simpson earned her D.V.M. from Texas A&M University in 2006 and M.S. from Oklahoma State University in 2013. She did an internship in food animal medicine and surgery in 2007 followed by a large animal (food animal emphasis) internal medicine residency at Oklahoma State University, and received board certification from the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (large animal) in 2010. She was a clinical instructor at Oklahoma State, and then took a position as an assistant professor at Ohio State University. After a few years in livestock ambulatory practice, she came back to academia because she loves teaching students, training interns and residents, and working with other veterinarians.
