Eileen Owens received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Montevallo in 2015 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Missouri in 2019. She joined the combined anatomic pathology residency / PhD program at Colorado State University in 2019 and in 2022 became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Pathologists. She is currently a PhD candidate in the Clinical Hematopathology Laboratory, advised by Dr. Anne Avery. Her research focuses on utilizing sequencing and other molecular and computational techniques to study the mutational landscape and cell of origin of canine peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL), a potential preclinical model for PTCL-NOS in humans. When she is not in the lab, she enjoys reading, bicycling, and exploring the outdoors in her vintage 1940s camper.
