Eileen OwensPostdoctoral Fellow Microbiology, Immunology, and Pathology
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, my family and I moved to Huntsville, Alabama while I was in high school to start a cattle farm and be closer to family. I received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Montevallo in 2015 and then decided to pursue my veterinary degree outside of Alabama at the University of Missouri. I started vet school at Mizzou already knowing that I didn’t want to be a conventional veterinarian. Eager to explore the lesser-known subsets of the field, I joined the Comparative Medicine & Pathology Club my first year, and pathology has had a hold of me ever since. At every chance I could, I was attending ACVP Meetings, collaborating on pathology-related research projects, and doing pathology rotations at other vet schools. After graduating with a DVM in 2019, I joined the residency program in anatomic pathology at CSU. If I’m not glued to a microscope, you can usually find me hiking, bicycling, attending Renaissance fairs, or adopting another cat.
