About Samyuktha
My name is Samyuktha Pullikanti, and I am presently enrolled at Colorado State University to major in Biomedical Sciences with a focus on Anatomy and Physiology. I want to apply my technological and scientific expertise to improve healthcare via research and creative solutions. I have a solid experience in Python and R coding. I have a strong interest in genetics, molecular biology, and medical imaging, and I have expertise doing experiments, interpreting data, and converting findings into useful conclusions.
I've had the chance to intern in a variety of settings and industries over my academic and professional career. I studied DNA extraction methods and investigated the genetic links between cowpea, yam, and cassava samples at the Bioscience Centre in Nigeria. I learnt about plant virology and the difficulties of preventing viral infections in crops during my tenure at the Virology Unit, where I worked with UN experts to develop remedies for crop illnesses that are common in Africa.
I gained more knowledge about neurology and prosthetic technology during my internship at the National University of Singapore. I learnt a lot about biomedical engineering while working with neurologists and PhD students on brain chip technologies and programming for prosthetic body parts.
Along with my technological work, I'm dedicated to advancing gender equality and STEM education. I organised enjoyable activities and conversations to pique the attention of grade 5 pupils at the Canadian International School in Singapore. I started and oversaw a fundraising initiative through the "It’s Raining Raincoats Foundation," which provides migrant workers in Singapore with essentials.
I am now a well-rounded person who is keen to learn more and make significant contributions to the improvement of healthcare as a result of these varied experiences.
