Dr. Jeckel currently teaches Attributes of Living Systems (LIFE 102), Honors Physiological Concepts (BMS 296), Honors Physiology Case Studies (BMS 496C), and Pharmacology (BMS 450) at Colorado State University. She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of San Diego, California, and her M.S. (in Nutritional Sciences) and Ph.D. (in Biomedical Sciences) at Colorado State University. Dr. Jeckel is currently conducting educational research in science courses. Her past research focused on genetic regulation of placental and fetal development (identifying the genes involved in fetal growth restriction using lentiviral-mediated shRNA and CRISPR knockdowns with sheep as the model). In addition to teaching, Dr. Jeckel works with learning assistants in biology, and honors students in biomedical sciences, mentoring and directing their honors thesis projects. She is originally from San Diego, California. Her interests include reading, skiing, running, scuba and cave diving, being outdoors, and traveling with her family.
