About Julia

Julia Hilliard is a PhD Student in Dr. Casey Gries' lab. She first became interested in disease pathogenesis and therapeutics after studying the effects of colloidal silver compounds in Cystic Fibrosis associated infections. Her graduate work will focus on examining biofilm architecture in Staphylococcus aureus as well as the antimicrobial activity of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) against S. aureus. She is excited to explore her other research interests in the context of this work including systems science approaches and bioinformatics. Outside of the lab, Julia enjoys singing, acting, rock climbing, and making jewelry, along with hiking with her husband and their two dogs.
