Dr. Saavedra-Rodriguez is an Assistant Professor and a member of the Center for Vector-Borne Infectious Diseases. She earned her bachelor's degree in biology, MSc, and PhD in medical entomology at Mexico's Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon. She moved to Colorado State University to further her studies on insecticide toxicology, genetics, and the evolution of insecticide resistance in mosquitoes. Dr. Saavedra's current study is focused on discovering insecticide resistance genes using genomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics. She also conducts field trials in Mexico using novel and traditional insecticide resistance management strategies for sustainable mosquito control. Dr. Saavedra's mission is to provide information and tools for mosquito control and lessen the global burden of vector-borne diseases.
