About Mac

Mac grew up in western Connecticut on his family's rescue and therapeutic riding facility. With this upbringing, veterinary medicine seemed like a natural choice for him as a future career option as he entered his undergraduate at the University of Connecticut. While there, he was introduced to the world of veterinary pathology and infectious disease pathogenesis research. His interest in pathology and research continued to develop throughout his veterinary curriculum at North Carolina State University. During his time at Colorado State University he has completed a three year residency in anatomic pathology and am currently boards eligible. For the past two years he has been working in Dr. Podell's lab as a PhD candidate examining Mycobacterium tuberculosis pathogenesis. He is specifically investigating the role of lipid-based immunity in terms of host-pathogen interaction. In his free time he likes being outdoors, traveling, spending time with friends, and of course hanging out with his two dogs, Tootsie and Luna.
