Joe Westrich

Dr. Westrich is a research scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Candace Mathiason in the Department of Microbiology Immunology and Pathology. He is interested in characterizing the immune response at the maternal-fetal interface during viral infections to understand the protective and detrimental role it plays on fetal health and development. Specifically, the impact of the shift of the immune environment away from a state of tolerance to that of a pro-inflammatory response and its consequence on fetal health.
