My research focuses primarily on the impact of hypoxic environments on hormone-mediated muscle, heart and liver energy metabolism and their physiologic outcomes. Of particular interest is the role of hypoxemia-induced cortisol increases in muscle proteolysis and metabolic responses at high altitude, and the transalation of findings from studies in animal models to human pathophysiology (Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Ischemia-reporfusion injuries, COPD, etc).
