Dietary supplement trial

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of an oral supplement on lameness and function in dogs affected by naturally-occurring osteoarthritis.

Your dog will receive a supplement to his or her current diet that will be one of two different formulas (containing different amounts of special ingredients that are designed to reduce the effects of pain/discomfort associated with osteoarthritis) based on a commercially available supplement.

Participation Requirements

  • Your dog will need to be return to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital for a total of seven visits for data collection over a 20-week period.
  • Maintain pet’s medical regime throughout duration of study.
  • Fill out owner questionnaire regarding your dog’s mobility and pain level.

eligibility information

  • Dogs with stable, naturally-occurring osteoarthritis in a major joint
  • Dogs must weigh over 5kg
  • Dogs in general good health
  • Dogs must be able to wear monitoring collar
