Pablo Maldonado Jr

Pablo Maldonado is a PhD student in the Cell and Molecular Biology PhD program at Colorado State University. He received his B.S In Cell and Molecular Biology and B.A in Chemistry at Adams State University and was an NCAA collegiate athlete at Adams. Pablo’s interest in infectious diseases first peaked during an undergraduate research project on bacterial antibiotic resistance and was reinforced during an internship within CSU’s chemistry department where he worked to characterize the electron transporter in Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). Currently, his research in the Henao lab focuses on identifying macrophage phenotypes that are best adapted for killing pathogens such as Mtb, and is implementing in vitro studies along with metabolomics, flow cytometry, and RNA seq. Pablo was recently awarded the NIH T32 Fellowship, a graduate training award that aims to produce computational biologists who can manipulate, comprehend, and analyze big data.
