About Darby

Darby Gilfillan is a PhD student mentored by Dr. Gregg Dean and Dr. Zaid Abdo. She was first interested in the microbiome after studying diet in wild animals during her undergraduate research. Her graduate work will examine the microbiome facet of vaccine research while combining immunology and bioinformatics. She is excited to explore various research interests throughout graduate school. In her spare time, Darby enjoys running, cooking, and drinking iced mochas while spending quality time with friends and family.
