About Chiara

Chiara Bowen has a BS in Zoology from Michigan State University (MSU) with 2 years of experience extracting DNA from spotted hyena blood and fecal samples in the Holekamp lab at MSU. She has studied the gene PPAR-gamma, which contributes to overeating and type II diabetes, in humans and spotted hyenas using a PCR-based strategy as well as the behavioral ecology of African mammals in Kenya. She moved to Fort Collins and began working in the Henao-Tamayo lab at Colorado State University (CSU) studying Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb).
