About Alyssa

Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, I spent the last 8 years at Purdue University completing my undergraduate and veterinary degrees. I was exposed to laboratory animal medicine following my first year of vet school, completing an externship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I kept an open mind throughout veterinary school, pursuing other career possibilities and ultimately returning to a heavy focus on research, particularly translational medicine. I have strong interests in comparative oncology but have done the majority of projects in stem cell research including optimization and culture of intestinal stem cells and mesenchymal stem cell therapy. I look forward to enhancing my understanding and serving the animals utilized in research & development for both veterinary and human diseases. I made the big move out to Colorado with my chocolate Labrador Retriever, Lucky. In my free time, I enjoy running, hiking, cooking, reading, skiing, & binge-watching Grey’s Anatomy.
