Helena VogelMicrobiology, Immunology, and Pathology
I was born and spent half my childhood in Germany before moving to sunny California. After taking all the courses my heart desired at community college, I transferred to UC Davis and obtained a bachelor's in Animal Biology. During that time, I gained research experiences in a multitude of fields and fell in love with research. After my undergraduate, I obtained a position at a CRO and became enamored by the role a veterinary pathologist plays within research. This geared me to pursue veterinary medicine at UC Davis, where my passion for anatomic pathology was solidified. As an NIH Fellow part of the Comparative Biomedical Scientist Training Program (CBSTP), I am more than excited to join CSU for my anatomic pathology training, and thereafter transition to the NIH for my dissertation work focused on molecular virology. Outside of work, I enjoy backpacking, biking, yoga, and lounging with my two felids, Gaia and Gimli.
