Liddy completed her undergraduate degree in Microbiology at Colorado State University where she worked on learning techniques used to research prions and other infectious diseases. After graduation, she spent a year and a half working as a contractor for the CDC in Fort Collins developing cell lines made to express Flavivirus proteins, which would later be used for diagnostic and vaccine development. Once her position at the CDC ended, she returned to CSU to continue working with prions. In mid-2020, she volunteered her time to act as a temporary director for CSU’s saliva screening lab to support COVID efforts for the university and keep the community safe.
