About Tanvi
Tanvi is currently a Bioinformatics Scientist in the Avanzi Lab at Colorado State University, where she is studying the transmission dynamics and evolutionary history of leprosy. Her research interests include studying the evolution of host-associated microbial ecologies and pathogens. Tanvi became interested in leprosy genomics during her Ph.D. at Arizona State University, where she led a genomic study of leprosy in captive nonhuman primates. Her doctoral work also included a paleogenomic study of tuberculosis in the pre-European contact era Americas. After graduating, she worked as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma, where she co-led a National Science Foundation-funded project on oral microbiome and oral pathogen evolution. In addition to science, Tanvi likes traveling, reading, solving crosswords, and playing board-games.
