About Kapahi

KP was born on the island of Moloka'i, Hawaii and moved to the Pacific Northwest during his middle school years. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, he enlisted in the United States Air Force (USAF) where he completed his technical training and education in medical laboratory science. He has over a decade of experience in leading and managing hospital clinical laboratories at various military treatment facilities across the United States.

In 2024, he earned a unique opportunity to pursue his Ph.D. in toxicology through the USAF and joined the Moreno Lab in the Department Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences for a career broadening assignment. KP has a passion for education and is excited about the groundbreaking translational research opportunities provided by collaboration with the neurology clinic that will further enhance his future roles and career as both a research scientist and as a medical laboratory scientist focused on human health.

Outside of research, KP enjoys traveling, preferably to a sunny beach, and also enjoys spending time with his dogs and cat.
