About Molly

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, I had a petless childhood due to family members with allergies. In rebellion, I started a neighborhood pet sitting service and later attended University of Illinois Veterinary College to receive my DVM. After graduation, I enjoyed practice at a small animal hospital and worked with many inspiring patients. I also spent three years as a Peace Corps public health volunteer among the incredible Amazigh people in a Moroccan village nestled in between the Sahara and the High Atlas Mountains. All of these experiences guided me into research in veterinary microbiology with an emphasis on zoonotic diseases and One Health. My current hobbies include drinking tea with cream and sugar, running slowly in marathons, making long distance phone calls to Morocco, and learning life lessons from my rescue cat and dog Miastin and FN-2187.
