About Alexa

I am originally from the small town of Morton, Illinois (The Pumpkin Capitol of the World!). In high school, I worked as a veterinary assistant at a small animal practice, where I first discovered my love for veterinary medicine. I attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and graduated in 2013 with a B.S. in Animal Sciences. I then attended the University of Missouri for veterinary school and received my DVM in 2017. During my time in veterinary school, I participated in multiple research projects from studying genetic mutations in cats to the respiratory microbiome of dogs. I saw first-hand how animals could serve as models for human diseases. After graduating veterinary school, I moved to Fort Collins to pursue a Comparative Medicine residency at CSU. In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, reading, traveling, music, Netflix binging, knitting, eating, spending time with my friends and family, and spoiling my cat Mosby.
