About Brian
Dr. Scansen grew up in the state of Washington and attended the University of Washington for undergrad before veterinary school at Michigan State University and a cardiology residency at The Ohio State University. Dr. Scansen completed a fellowship in interventional radiology at the University of Pennsylvania and spent six years on faculty at OSU before moving to Colorado. Since 2015, he has been the service head of the CSU cardiology and cardiac surgery service, program director of the CSU cardiology residency, and fellowship director of the only interventional cardiology fellowship for animals in the world. His primary interests in cardiology are congenital heart disease (heart problems in young animals), advanced imaging of the heart, and developing new ways to fix heart problems by minimally invasive techniques.
Dr. Scansen is a member of the American College of Cardiology, the American Society of Echocardiography, and the Society of Cardiac Computed Tomography, and is a founding member of the Veterinary Interventional Radiology and Interventional Endoscopy Society.
