About Lauren

Most of my childhood was spent riding horses in the rolling hills of Goshen, NY sparking my interest in veterinary medicine. Heading north to Colby College for my undergrad in Cell and Molecular Biology/Biochemistry, I developed an immense appreciation for the intricacies underlying physiologic processes. My first research exposure was with working in a plant development lab studying the molecular mechanisms governing seed germination. After graduation, I further explored my research interest working in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School North Lab studying hematopoietic stem cells. Pursuing my goal of becoming a vet at U. Penn, I developed interests in global health working as the student One Health chair and traveling to Haiti to improve local animal health and husbandry. I was drawn to pathology as it combines my longstanding interests in molecular biology and empirical research with new passion for global one health, oncology, and diagnostic medicine.
