Torrance NettFaculty Biomedical Sciences
Dr. Nett is Professor of Reproductive Physiology. His laboratory is directed at obtaining a better understanding of factors that regulate synthesis and secretion of hormones that control reproduction, particularly the gonadotropins. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) stimulates synthesis and secretion of gonadotropins by interacting with membrane receptors in the anterior pituitary gland. Highly potent analogs of GnRH are being used to deliver cytotoxic moieties specifically to gonadotrophin-producing cells in the anterior gland with the goal of developing a treatment to control reproductive rate of wild and selected domestic animal populations to treatment of hormone-dependent cancers in humans. Dr. Nett is past Associate Dean for Research in CVMBS and managed the CSU Summer Veterinary program for over a decade.
