Diagnostic Virology and Viral Pathogenesis. I supervise the virology, virology/serology and molecular diagnostic sections of CSU's Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in which tests are performed to diagnose viral diseases of livestock, companion animals and wildlife. I also participate in field investigations of suspected viral diseases and in extension activities. My research focus is bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV), an economically important pathogen of western beef cattle. Current research projects include the pathogenesis of BVDV fetal infections, and the epidemiology of BVDV in feedlot cattle and in wildlife.
