Forensic Toxicology

The Analytical Toxicology Laboratory at Colorado State University is certified by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to conduct forensic blood alcohol testing. We only provide blood alcohol analysis at CSU at this time. We subcontract blood drug testing through NMS Labs in Pennsylvania. Analytical Toxicology Laboratory Request for Analysis Form

step 3

Release of samples

If samples are stored at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, completing the request for analysis form authorizes the release of the blood sample from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to the Analytical Toxicology Laboratory. No further action is required. Shipping cost is included in the sample analysis fee.

For customers outside of Colorado, please email [email protected] to discuss appropriate procedures for obtaining second samples from your state.

If you do not receive a confirmation email from us within a day or two of sending a request, please contact us again.

Turn-around times

The standard turn-around time for blood alcohol analysis is 1-2 weeks from when the actual blood sample is received at the Analytical Toxicology Laboratory, not from when the sample request form is received. Rushed sample analysis may be available if feasible at that time for an additional $75. Drug testing results are typically returned from NMS Labs in 2-3 weeks.

Invoicing

Our department will invoice clients via email shortly after completion of casework. New clients will need to provide the name, physical address, email address, and phone number of the invoice recipient. Invoices will not be sent to individual subjects, only to businesses.

If you have questions about an invoice, please contact CSU Accounts Receivable Operations at (970) 491-2697 or [email protected].
